Ingredients:

  • 1 pound of sliced mushrooms, such as cremini or button
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup chicken or vegetable broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. In a big skillet over medium heat, melt the butter.
  2. Add the sliced mushrooms to the skillet and sauté them until they release their moisture and become golden brown, which takes about 6-8 minutes.
  3. Add the minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for an additional 1 minute until fragrant.
  4. Add the chicken or vegetable broth, then simmer the mixture. Allow the broth to simmer for two to three minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Pour in the heavy cream after lowering the heat. Add the mushrooms, stir, and simmer for 3 to 4 minutes on low heat.
  6. Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese, and continue to cook until the cheese has melted and the sauce has thickened, which usually takes another 2-3 minutes.
  7. Season the Mushroom Parmesan sauce with salt and pepper according to your taste.
  8. After taking the skillet off the heat, garnish it with freshly chopped parsley.
  9. Serve the Mushroom Parmesan as a side dish or as a topping for pasta, rice, or bread.
